Here are some photos that I took on other jobs, and some tips that might help...
If you discover one of these in your window well, put a 2x4 in the well so that the end is above the edge of the well. Do not make the 'escape' 2x4 to steep. Do this when the skunk is asleep as in the late afternoon. WARNING: Approach slowly, and do not startle it. The skunk will more than likely be gone by morning. Caution, this job is not for the faint of heart. If necessary, call for professional help and get all your window wells covered up.
Some birds will use anything for nesting material. This was cleaned out of a 4" vent pipe. Notice the cigarette butt. If this butt was still burning when placed in the nest, a house fire could have been the results. This is why when birds are nesting in a building (through a vent for example), under a porch roof (through a hole in the wood, for example), etc., they need to be removed, and the entry sealed up with the correct durable material.
This Bald Faced Hornet nest is only 6 weeks old. This type of hornet is very aggressive. Yellow Jackets (a type of hornet) can build a paper nest, a ground nest or nest in a wall cavity, depending on the species. To rid your property of these nests, wait till after dark when they are all in the nest, and spray the nest opening with a good brand of bee killer. Spray at least 30 seconds, wait 1 minute, spray for another 30 seconds. Cover ground nest openings with a rock or other suitable covering. Check for activity the following day. Repete if necessary that night. This is not a job for the faint of heart. If unsure, call a professional.
