The total length of the Ant Guard is approximately 5 1/2 inches. The "cup" part is 1 and 1/2 inches wide
(OD), and approximately 1 inch high. Even the largest black ants, can not span the gap.

In stead of using a cup type Ant Guard I have come up with the "platform" type Ant Guard. As one can see, vegetable oil or water can not be used with this type of Ant Guard. Petroleum jelly would work best here.
All parts are laid out, hand cut and soldered. Sharp edges are ground smooth. This platform type of RMD Ant Guard is easy to care for. One can readily see if debris or dead insects are clogging the petroleum jelly. All it takes is a paper towel to wipe away unwanted debris, and reapply the petroleum jelly. The "platform" is 1 and 1/2 inches square, and is made from 16 ounce copper. The total length is approximately 4 inches
